can we ban this troll already?
lol, when I first read this, I immediately and impulsively envisioned miran getting ganged-up by some of the more annoyed members here in the corner of a room.
that knit is so gorgeous.. where can i get my hands on it
blah blah blah.
looks good ese.
I'm not sure why you think they're the first company to hedge with futures. The Chicago Board of Trade has been listing futures since the 19th century, and futures and forward contracts were around even earlier than that.
And to keep this post on topic: that polo shirt is hideous. I hope you're just a next-next level troll.
Well, you're right in that the CME traded futures for grain and cattle and shit like that in the 19th century....and yeah, historians claim that samurai traded in futures for rice off their land and whatnot and that was the first futures trade example...what I meant to say was Smedley were the first independent company to enter into a futures contract with another party (and a farming cooperative, no less)...a textbook example of futures, if you will. Most of the similar trades since have been disasters....the government of Chile through much of the early 90s, RyanAir in 2008, etc etc.
Why the hell do you think I'm a troll? That really is my shirt! And I really do love John Smedley. Why do you think it's hideous?
Because the physique underneath it is hideous.
It's ugly as sin and you're using an obscure economic factoid to justify looking terrible.
What's on trial here--my physique or Smedley?
You can crucify my body but don't diss the Smedley....
On the model, it looks like this:
