Said it before and I'll say it again. Snowman, I'm damn glad you got those Lanvin pants. Not 100% on the jacket though. Balenciaga right?

    Congrats, CrazyJew.

Looks good, snow, but a simple eye patch would take your fits to the next level. :D

I know it's not flattering on me.

But this designer--John Smedley--who is loved by Mr Porter and a lot of the upmarket UK retailers (not to mention the Japanese, but that is not necessarily a recommendation for them)--seems to make all their polos like that!
I mean--look at this dude, basking in the Sorrentine sunshine...

What's with this style and the sleeves down to elbows?

eye patch would be awesome but I think snow is the one poster that could pull off the margiela visor now???

not in your backyard though. not menacing enough.

miran, I realize this is a rather broad statement, but polo shirts really aren't all that great. Most polo shirts don't look good on most people. Many fits involving a polo shirt could be improved by switching to a button-front shirt and rolling the sleeves up past the elbow.

I realize that a tall, fit, good-looking model may look good basking in the Sorrentine sunshine, but change the model and the context, and that could be out of a Sears catalog.

Your $400 could go toward much, much better things.

alright....i understand your point. it just baffles me how these retailers carry these things and charge so much, if there is such a small market/demand for them...and why designers keep on making them.

and you're totally right...you can only judge fit when you see the whole person--height, weight, gut, face, shape, etc--to judge fit. Of course, the Ralph Lauren polo made with pique fits everyone....it makes everyone look good. you don't need pictures to prove it. But then you see them everywhere. even the guy working at the Sears cashier is wearing one, with the polo player logo on the left chest.

But then, there are these niche designers who use exotic fabrics that feel like cashmere to make polos--but then why do they go for designs that look like George by Wal-Mart? That's the part I don't get.

Polos are fine and can look good but you must be athletic. Think about it, polos are sportswear... but $200 polos are an absolute scam.

Besides that, do you not see how the sleeves and body are supposed to be fitted, while yours looks like a sack? How could you possibly think that looks good by any standards, never mind the 200... Lose weight and size down next time, or just get something that's meant to fit you better.
