1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

I just don't get how people get to that state, I mean, when I am working manual labour shuffling formwork and stuff I look like Hedi Slimane on some more crack, I mean how is that even.. I don't know

Uh, did you see the post I linked to? Eating trash like that regularly gets people into that state. And then they justify their condition with straw man arguments like "I'm too busy to go to the gym." As though avoiding some dumbbells is what led to their stomach obstructing the view of their feet. I lean pretty far to the left on most issues, but the rampant coddling of America's overweight and obese is something I can't get on board with. Have some self-discipline and respect.

Probably. Poor areas = fat residents.

Ya, pretty much. Poor income states = reflects on anything social service or obesity related. Not saying colabear is on food stamps, but US medicaid is even only covering about 40% residents, which is pretty bad considering other western countries. Only hoping the Obama Medicaid will go through though, will probably leave more room for other social policies to follow in a more socialist state of mind.

I used to think like you.

but i would question. Are you really saying that the changes in lifestyle haven't contributed to people getting fat?

I understand better than anyone else that you can't put on weight without eating more calories than maintenance, but we've never had to use "self discipline" on this issue ever before. Our lifestyles are different and our bodies evolved to survive in much different environments. Growing up in a slum doesn't literally put the gun in your hand and make you rob the old lady, but it damn sure predisposes you to such behaviour. In the same way, high working hours and a Mcdonalds around the corner don't make the farmer's son fatter than him, but chances are he will be.

In other words, i don't think you can call the obesity epidemic simply an issue of lack of self control.

I apologize in advance for being "that guy" but what you presented doesn't really fit the form of a "straw man" argument. Maybe more of a red herring fallacy.

In addition, let's not go overboard in assuming we know more about this guy than we really do.

Those Trickers sound really cool, post a pic for sure. Playing dress up and getting my Nepenthes on. Didn't actually wear this out in the heat today, just trying to decide if I want to keep the pants or not. [IMG] [IMG] WWM EG NB

Adding to this, gym is a much more minor part of losing weight than people think. It's almost all about diet. Adding muscle mass does help a lot in burning calories though.
Your MC-type stuff is so, so much better than your streetwear efforts. I love these.

It's not fair because MC stuff is so much easier to make look good.

Climate can also have a lot to do with it. The states and cities that tend to be fat are often colder northern states (MI and Wisconsin) or southern states with opressive heat and humidity (Texas) where the climate aids in people sitting indoors avoiding the weather, while people generally tend to be more active (and less fat) in states where the climate is more moderate (California)

I used to think like you.

Change in lifestyle is (In my opinion) the largest reason for the current situation. It's not like people eat drastically worse now than say 40-50 years ago... they at plenty of wonderbread and fried food back then... but they burned more calories off in a day. For example - West Virginia is one of the fatter states; they've tended to eat lots of large, calorie dense meals (fried foods etc) which didn't used to be an issue because people would burn it off working labor intensive jobs like mining. Then a lot of the mining jobs disappeared and they stopped working such labor intensive jobs, yet they still ate the same, so they gained weight (to simplify the situation).

Fabric looks great and they fit well. Keep.

+1 fabric looks cool and the fit seems right for you

True, but I'd argue what sort of exercise you're doing makes a sizable difference. Even for a small-ish guy like me (140 some lbs), an hour distance run burns about 1000 calories... that makes quite a dent- consistently doing workouts like that you'll lose weight even if you don't alter your diet
