you guys talking about understanding modern art (you really mean abstract art though, right?)

    nope.

y, need to do yourselves a favor and read 'the painted veil' by Tom Wolfe.

i think you mean "the painted word." great book.

I don't know if Zissou was going for the look, but am I the only one who thought Leon The Professional? Especially with the glasses and cap. Nice fit

got you'all @ untucking the shirt. My girlfriend said the same thing as were leaving but I insisted on keeping it tucked and the sweater unbuttoned (it's unseasonably warm today). But probably just to show off the belt (which I am a big fan of - BillyKirk. Actually got it for Christmas as a gift right before j.Crew started carrying it in their " in good company" line....(but paid $25 less pre JC's adoption of it [IMG] )

& snowman, thanks for the compliment on the nudies. took me a while to just get a 34" inseam for some reason, but glad I did. They're a little tight, but not too very overly, imo.

If you want to show off your belt, get a shirt that fits so it "stacks" slightly at the waist and pull the hem just over the buckle.

what unc said, or a button up would be more tuck-able.

the jeans fit perfect, i thought they might be a worn pair because of the fades. if not, the pre-distressing is really nice on this pair.

    yeah about the title.

Also, it seems like to understand something (of modern art in this case) requires a generality, which I don't see here. I subscribe to 'Modern American Paintings', which is about my entire involvement with modern art, and in that stock of material I don't see a unifying ingredient to form a specific, understandable notion.. whereas abstract art has a natural 'why' which made sense to parallel RO or whatever. I don't contend to understand anything about art outside of my personal relationship with it, just my 2c.

I don't even think it was iced. I would've preferred tap water, but that's what they brought us [IMG]

if truth be told, it's the gallerists that are the true tossers. just sayin'
Lol, dude you try dealing with 100+ submissions from new artists every day, all of them convinced they are a genius who will revolutionize the art world. when the overwhelmingly vast majority are 'special flower' middle class kids with a limitless sense of entitlement and a few spoon-fed art theory cliches. just sayin' [IMG]

I don't know what you mean here. Do you mean like "why make non-representational art?"

The Wolfe thing looks good, adding it to my reading list. TBH I don't know anything about the art world, my whole contact with it is reading about it and seeing it in person or online. There aren't any galleries at Hinterland U but there are some museums I can check out.

Jeans and coat are too baggy, mainly jeans. Also your cuffs suck and you could use better boots.
