I'm wearing Santoni shoes right now , blake stitched, made in Italy, that I paid under $100 for. Don't need to spend a ton to have good quality shoes, just need to be savvy.
This. ( Although $100 isn't exactly daily fare, lucky you... ) I got my BNIB Santoni 'Micks' for around $240, which is still a steal, and love them to death...
...the list of "no-go" brands is a mile and a half long. Aldo and Kenneth Cole are probably at the top of it though.
Closely followed by Steve Madden. [IMG]

Even if you buy all your clothes from H&M and UNIQLO, invest in your shoes.

it's incredible how little you guys know about nutrition

    + a trillion

Seriously, guys. Shut up. "Fat makes you fat" [IMG]

Yeah, that's why America got so slim during the '90s when low-fat diets were all the rage.

Carbs matter, unless you simply want to see a certain number on the scale and don't give a shit whether you look like a skinny-fat bitch or not.

    - the guts to make a $300 shoe purchase off of a website

A $300 shoe should be had for $150 max if you're an SFer.

The fact is that a shoe which costs $100 retail is inherently going to have shitty leather and poor construction, unless people aren't making a profit.

the styling on those aldos looked fine but no doubt in person the leather looks crap and so does the construction.

If you guys could list some definite no-go brands, that would help. I posted a pic + link to the shoes I bought in the ultimate noob thread, and people said they looked fine. So far the shoes seem fine to me as well.

Don't ask "what shouldn't i buy", obviously that list is pretty exhaustive.

Yup, $250 is the max of what i spend on my shoes and that's certainly not aggressive bargain hunting, it's probably more than half of retail for most of them.

You can definitely save up $250 and get a real nice pair of shoes on B&S or ebay.

disagree, it depends on the type of calories you take in. eating 1k a day in white bread and cookies isn't going to help you lose weight. When i need to cut weight i drop carbs into the 50g range and no matter how much i eat i still lose.

oh and finally starting to break in my GT's a little..ankles are hurting :/

This makes no sense; weight loss/gain is wholly tied to calorie consumption. I lost about 20 lbs eating about 500-700 calories under maintenance; of those calories I occasionally indulged in sweets etc and my losses never slowed down

I agree that this isn't the place for nutrition discussions, but it's hard to keep quiet in the midst of such false info. Odds are you just ate the right amount of calories to lose weight... carbs are the easiest macros to overeat

    -----------------

I will do my due diligence in getting better shoes. I just need to find some sales here in the city, or stop spending $$$ on cameras and vacations

If you are calorically negative, you cannot gain weight, you cannot maintain weight, you can only lose weight. That is the DEFINITION of calorically negative.

oh my god *stabs self in head* such idiocy.
