The Way Bespoke Clothes Feel

We talk a lot about the way bespoke clothes look, but we neglect (at least comparitively) how they feel. Isn't that at least as important?

Do you think bespoke clothes feel better on you than RTW? Or is feel not part of the equation?

For me, I like the softness of my own clothes. I know that some RTW makers make soft clothes, but not (I think) quite this soft.

Second, I liked the relatively loose fit. I like to feel my jackets at only two places: the armhole, and the back of the neck. I really hate anything to feel tight or binding or restrictive.

Third, (and this is hard to put into words), there is a way in which properly balanced clothes move with you and fall back into place effortlessly. RTW tends to get discombobulated, and then requires frequent adjustments. Also, I can feel the collar at the back of the neck in nearly any direction I move, which gives me peace of mind.

Thoughts?

I agree on the "not having to adjust it" part. That and they are more comfortable.

My bespoke jackets are worlds apart from my MTM ones in feel. I look a lot slimmer in the former although they are significantly looser--particularly around the waist. Whereas I am conscious of my MTM jackets, my bespoke ones feel as close to nothing as I can imagine. Yes, they do seem to fall back into place without effort.

It is similar with bespoke pants. They are much looser around my waist, but they still stay up. Much more comfortable, particularly when sitting.

I have a sportcoat from JC Penney that I am sure is as soft, if not softer than anything you have from a bespoke maker, and I saved enough money on the coat to buy myself some very nice penny loafers from Macy's in the bargain.

My answer presumes Manton means feel is different from fit

4 of my last 6 bespoke suits have been flannel, (3 were woolen and 1 was worsted).
I enjoy the feel and warmth of flannel

I love the feel of my trousers since I use braces...the wool doens't constrict me in the way a poorly fitting RTW suit coupled with a belt and I love the feel of woolen fibers caressing my lower extremities

I find that my MTM suits are very soft and comfortable and last longer. I can't speak to bespoke suits yet but it certainly holds with my bespoke shoes.
