Back in the early 80s you could walk into an AD and get 25% off a steel Sub or GMT and those were the "popular Rolexes" back then. And that was without any haggling. Daytonas and Explorer 2s were practically being given way in those days.

You think thats sad, quartz watches were such a big deal in the early 80s, that no one wanted "old" manual wind or automatic watches so you could buy vintage PP, AP, and VC chronographs, perpetual calendars, and even perpetual calendar chronographs all day long for $2,000-$3,000. For a reference point $2,500 was the MSRP on a new gold and steel Sub or GMT back then.

The prices are a bit brutal, but keep saving its worth it!

I'm almost there. I can buy a used one now with the cash but going for a new one instead. I feel that I don't wanna buy used watches (don't know why, strange feeling)

When looking at this you know why AP is worth every penny.

I feel the same way. If its a current production watch that I want, I prefer to wait and buy a new one.
