I wasn't aware of the application process that Ferrai has and thanks for pointing this out.

Your right Patek doesn't include the owner when designing of the watch, and your right I think part of it is to make people feel special and I'm sure part is to make sure they spend a bit more before getting an application watch as well. But regardless it is the way they tend do things in the luxury watch business. There are certain watches you just can't get as easily. However there are enough people who are more than willing to put in their application.

(This following part I've heard but not confirmed) Also they don't really want these watches to be re-sold as it it would kind of take away from the whole application process in the first place. I don't think you have to sign anything, however you may not be able to get another application piece if they find out about it. Since Patek would be the only one capable of servicing these watches, they would be able to find out about it pretty easily.

I recently tried on the Black Bay and Pelagos at an AD in Melbourne. I really liked both watches although I am coming down on the side of the Pelagos at the moment, as I love the titanium case, the ceramic lumed bezel, and the depth adjusting bracelet - all very cool features. The Pelagos is pretty big and bulky, however, so it is definately a watch for swimming, diving, weekend BBQs etc only. It does have a bit of a Seiko vibe to it, I agree!

Not only that, but the Maxi Dial makes it just that much easier to read.

I love the look of moon phase watches, but I'm yet to figure out why I would need it.

For me, someimes it's more for the beauty than it is for the function.

Others may disagree, but one could make the same arguement for the exhibition case back as well.

I can understand them not wanting them to be re-sold. One, it sort of cheapens the experience and two, they don't make anything on the re-sale. I agree, most likely if they discover you have sold the watch at auction shortly after taking delivery they probably will never sell you another watch that requires an application. I know Patek keeps track of auction results as I've seen results printed in the Patek magazine that gets sent to registered Patek owners.
Beautiful watch! I tried one on at a dealer recently and was surprised by its size. It definitely wears and feels smaller than their previous chronographs. Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing them.
Love the vintage Sub! Its a design I never tire of seeing.
Nice Sub C no-date. How do you like it? I saw one for the first time this weekend. It might be the first time I think I liked the non-date version more than a Sub Date.
