1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

This is true. That seriously WTF!? blackletter font (twice, no less) the presence of Arial on the dials of most models make GS absolutely unwearable for me. On the other hand, I read books on typography for fun. [IMG]

It is that kind of special madness that makes this thread so fascinating. :)

Oops, I thought it was Arial from other photos. Now that I can see the text clearly, it looks more like Akzidenz-Grotesk to me, which is infinitely better than Arial — but only because Arial rates a zero so quite literally any other choice except something like Papyrus or Comic Sans would also be infinitely better. I still have no idea why they'd use it in conjunction with a blackletter bastarda lettering style that's associated most closely with Cistercian monks in eastern France during the middle ages.

I'm sure it's well-made and everything, but this thing is a typographic mess:

Put my 18k GMT on a Hodinkee strap, and changed to an old brown bezelinsert with a nice shiny brownpurplish patina. I know for a fact that this patina was the result of a short period in the last owner´s oven, and not years and years of sun bleaching

I like the result quite a lot better than the previous configuration of black bezel insert and croco strap :satisfied:

Fantastic. It was actually your photo of that watch on black NATO in this thread about three years ago that directly led to me getting a GMT. I bet it looks amazing on the wrist.

The skeleton model in SS and RG have been around for a while, just very limited numbers are produced each year. This specific watch is a limited edition of 40 pieces in platinum for the royal oak's 40th anniversary.

You mean If I said it sucked then you will agree? Why? Because it doesnt look original? You gotta be an artist to see why this works! I'm not an brown strap type of guy either ,I would have gone for a black! But, you gotta admit it spices things up abit[IMG]

Wow. I've got to say that I'm not a fan of AP RO, but if I saw this one in the flesh I'd definitely look and examine.

The strap mitigates but does not negate the intrinsic snooze that is Rolex.
