    Point is he shouldnt have anything to prove. I thought people came here for clothing advice and not to measure our dicks (but I may be in the minority)

    i'd not recommend a vintage watch as a first real watch...
    thats like saying get a porsche 993 as their first real car...
    too many unknowns... get something new, reliable...

    how about a TAG Carrera Auto? $1500USD from authorized dealers after discount

    Ok, I'd recommend a watch made in Germany then. Look at the Stowa Marine original, or the Sinn 556. You get more bang for your buck, if you fancy a chrono, look at Guinand watches.
