I was given this as a gift. Honestly, I have never liked it. I used to wear it to the gym but then I stopped wearing a watch to the gym. I use it when I go hiking and active traveling (e.g., climbing Kilimanjaro).

    This is my formal watch:

And again... my newest addition. My new everyday watch. (previous everyday watch was given to my Nephew, but it was an older tag).

Wow I never realized it but I really need to get a watch with a lighter face for some variety...

With gdl's caveats aside, i can agree the design IS iconic--the crown guard is certainly unique. However, I totally agree w aj_del re: subtlety and the wash out from douchery.

He may further agree with me that we have to worry about the slippery slope of douchery more than others. Don't wanna look like a Khaleeji/Persian/Indian greaser. Just sayin.

Don't buy ugly watches just because they're cheap.

Would you count me stealing all your watches as something major? Because I could use some...

    A sad situation indeed.

In regards to the Panerai debate, I don't really understand the complicated models, but I really love the base ones. I never really cared for them until I tried one on my wrist. They are very seductive. The rational part of my brain won out, but it was close. It is hard to justify spending that much cash on a watch with such a pedestrian movement.

The one draw for me is that I have NEVER seen a Panerai in the wild. Where I live they really are not associated with douche-baggery as they are elsewhere.

 yes i would. insurance would compensate me well, i could easily upgrade. but please dont.

also, i dont know if "all" is the right word to use. i only have 2 right now.

when you see them in person you cant help but admire the sheer masculine beauty. i have a few friends and business people i see on occasion that wear them. they always look great.

Newcomer, what's pedestrian about the movements?
Early Pam models Rolex - Angelus - Eta then moving to Panerai modified Eta - JLC, Lemania, Minerva, FP, GP and just recently the new 'In house' Panerai movements P2002/3000 etc.
