These are my go to's on the average day. I don't know why people hate on the Carrera's so much I personally rank it right up there with my seamaster. The hamilton in the back is the unbreakable frogman that I have literally beaten to death and minus having to scrape a little mud and other miscellaneous dirt particles from the knocks and crannies, still look decent enough to throw on under the sport coat....I call that worthy of "porn" - And jhcam8 everyone has different tastes in their porn...sometimes the el cheapos are just as good as the those that meet the majority of the superficial definitions of nice that everyone places on the number of zeros on the price tag
^ That's true - I didn't finish my thoughts - expensive doesn't necessarily equate to porn here - but, it often does. Run of the mill watches can be useful, nice, practical, and so on but aren't all that interesting except to the guy who's buying one.
Yesterday I bought my wife a $130 Skagen that qualifies as porn - the thing is beautiful.
JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon 39.
Lookin good Cylon.
Thank you very much WarrenG.
It's actually my wedding present from my wife. I was married in November of 2010, and have been waiting to see this watch in person ever since it was announced at SIHH 2011.
It was between this, the 1931 Reverso, and the new Glashutte Senator Automatic.
I decided against the Reverso due to the lack of an exhibition caseback, and for the Glashutte I still think its a beautiful and refined piece but decided to go for the moonphase complication and the JLC name in the end.
Looking forward, I love the new Zenith El Primero Striking Tenth or the Omega Speedmaster Professional. They would have been on the short list previously, but I wanted a classic refined dress watch for the wedding present. A sport watch can come later (or the reverso 1931...I do love that piece).
Time to save my pennies!
You made a great choice. Congratulations!
Thats EXACTLY what i said when i opened the gift from a friend.....who knows I like watches....!!!!
Hope you are doing well GDL. I have been looking for a Red Sub complete set these days...will post when I find one.
with friends like that...
Kappelan, Cylon, Shikar - there you go!
I like the Romain Jerome steampunk watches - 46mm is too big for me, but they're interesting - RJ Moon Dust DNA, e.g.:
