Personally, I wouldn't do it. Besides not having box and papers, the Mercedes co-branding really hurts the value and makes it less desirable to collectors. If you don't mind it though, it's a lot of watch for 6k and a lovely design.

I do think it's a little large for your wrist, at least based on those pics.

I wouldn't say "definitely not worth it" at all. It's a solid movement that is used by companies up and down the spectrum, including brands like IWC and Hublot on the higher end.

The Stowa is a quality German-made watch from a historic brand that gets a lot of praise from collectors. Jorg Schauer (the current owner of Stowa) runs a tight ship and seems to have his hands on ever watch that goes out the door. Stowa doesn't have any name recognition with the general public, but by all accounts they make a hell of a watch.

This has to be one of the top 3, if not the most useful, world timer movement out there. If you're thinking about buying it, go for it!

I would be very surprised if this statement/impression is accurate.

While this thread has photos of many beautiful watches, etc. I don't think it is the most expert place re: quality issues, etc. I don't find discussions re: "quality has slipped", etc., on the Schauer/Stowa sub-forum on WUS, a far more expert forum imo. The issue of delays relative to shipping certain models because of a difficulty in sourcing parts (beyond Stowa's control and an issue being suffered by other manufacturers as well), which is the only "compliant" I sometimes read re: Stowa (and to which Stowa respond promptly and professionally), does not equal "quality has slipped".

If independent, factual material regarding the (allegedly diminished) quality of Stowa watches can be provided, I would be most happy to read it.
I have nothing to do with Stowa and I don't even own one; I just find statements such as the one quoted above, without any actual reference, to be of little positive use and potentially negative.

I wouldn't want a watch with 'SL65' etched into it, even if I did own an SL65.

I like the watch, but have to agree with everything stated above.

That's the problem with 2 other IWCs that I otherwise like: the 3227 AMG Ingy and the Top Gun pilot. A titanium Ingy and ceramic pilot should both be clear winners, but the co-branding ruins them for me.

Reminds me that I have two new shirts that I've been meaning to get monogrammed. Also excellent watch as it doesn't bunch up your cuff.
