Face palm. I'm not wearing my glasses and would have bet that it said $50K.
I found a guy in CA who is a Seiko collector and he's worked on a few of my vintage watches - not just Seiko. Very reasonable and pretty fast. I'll send you his name if I can dig up his card.
haha. i wish. small timer here.
i think this THE one.
Great choice B!!! I love the date, and iirc its an automatic right?
I send my Sea-Dweller to Bob Ridley a few days ago, so I'm here watchless atm. I really wish I still have my Speedmaster. Plus I'm already looking at another Rolex, a 1675 or 16710 But I really want a dress watch as my next watch. I'm thinking either a simple Reverso or a Senator Sixties.
yup automatic, 1950s case. one thing i'm still waffling on is the case thickness. they are already substantial watches, but the 1950s is about 3.5-4mm thicker than a regular Luminor. i do like the brushed look over the polished, but that isn't going to sway me either way.
what are your thoughts on a 177. it's similar to the 111, but just made of titanium. i presume it's quite a bit lighter than steel. any drawbacks to it?
love these vintage oysters, particularly when they have dauphine hands.
That 312 looks great, but it is a beast of a watch. Make sure you've tried it on before getting a 1950's case. The 177 is a much better fit on the wrist in comparison. I prefer the 176 with no seconds hand. You can always get a 111 and have the case brushed if that is what you are looking for.
something different for me today
The 1950 auto is very beefy. A slimmer watch is the 8-day winding caliber on the 233 if you decide the 312 is too big.
I picked up a copy of the robb report watch collection at borders today for 2.50 (something inappropriate about buying a Robb mag on discount. The whole mag is watch porn. I however am curious if you think:
is worth 637K. yup. Quad Tourbillion.
^ I plan on picking one up the same day I take delivery of my Bugatti.
love this rolex (rarely do I say that!) what are the details on this watch, and more photos? thanks!
I'll check it out. Thanks.
Please do. I never thought it would be so fucking difficult to get service on a $50 automatic watch.
That's a handsome piece.
