Might as well go for the patek and think of it as an investment
Dont see many JLC's here.
I just got my hands on a Master Calender.
First day of wear;
On a Loro Piana 4 season twill;
Submariner beats both. No watch can win from this.
Nice watch Getzione.
are you telling me that a sub beats a daytona?
thats why each rolex authorized dealer only gets allocated ONE daytona per year, while subs dont have a limit?
daytona is as special as a $10000 range watch can come man... its cult status is huge
I'm talking about the design. The Daytona is an artwork but i prefer the looks of a Submariner more. By the way there are even Daytona's with the estimate value of $100.000.
yeah the vintage ones...
but the new ones are MSRP'd at like $12000 i believe?
But supposedly you cant get one at $12000 so they jacked up the used daytona's prices...
i went to tourneau and they were selling a preowned for $15000...
still, i'd do soooo many things to get my hands on a daytona lol
if you get a sub, you will and i promise you will - get people asking incessantly about its legitimacy lol...
too many fauxs
Spoiler: Warning: Spoiler!
Amazing watch. Enjoy.
I see used Daytonas for like $8,000 all day. Maybe a year or so ago the silver/gold with black face ones were under $10K used as well. If you google 'Rolex Daytona' you get a bunch of grey market ones for under $12K new.
Also, used Speedy pros for about $1000.
if i didn't have a sinn 656 then i would be very tempted by this watch
yeah no idea why tourneau wanted $15k for a used daytona... and its the SS version not the white gold
i dont think its fair to compare gray market vs white market prices...
You're talking about the SS model. I've noticed that the precious metal Daytonas sit on shelves just like any other precious metal watches. As for the markup, I haven't noticed any local places doing that anymore. True, SS Daytonas aren't as readily available as other Rolexes, and it's true that some places still have waiting lists for them, but I think the hype has definitely died down in the last couple years. If you're on Rolex Forums (TRF), you'll notice that it's pretty easy to pick up a new Daytona for MSRP or even a little less from one of the many trusted sellers.
And the Sub has it's own group of followers too. Many prefer it over the Daytona for it's cleaner face.
Here's a shot of what I'm wearing today, along with my latest pocket square...
Beautiful JLC, Getzione - I'm eyeing one myself.
this, daytonas are not nearly as rare as dealers would have you believe.
in fact i find modern ones a little too shiny and vaguely effeminate. i'll have to keep saving for a paul newman.
