And quartz is a different beast than the little engines in a mechanical watch.

Accidentally ran across this sub forum and boy am I glad to meet other watch enthusiasts. I am a diver watch collector and here is the most of my collection, sorry but all pics were taken with my droid so it's somewhat fuzzy. Hope to meet some of you at WUS!

I absolutely do except I have fairly small wrist and I do admit that some watches do look pretty funny (50mm U-Boat is too big for my wrist but what the heck). At some point, I stopped looking at watches smaller than 44mm when I look for another purchase. [IMG]

I can't swim so I can't really say which one, but hopefully that will change this summer [IMG]

I don't normally post on forums, because they terrify me. I'm certain I break all the rules, and not like a rebel. Anyway, I write a blog called Steve McQueen Style, which tends to lie dormant for months at a time. The next post will be about watches. Obviously, if you've had enough of Steve McQueen you've tuned out already. The likers left of course mightn't agree with my version of him nor with any watch conclusions I draw. I'm sure many of you know more about McQ style than I do, and even more know more about watches. With those mighty fucking caveats out the way, I'd like to ask anybody with relevant info to get in touch. I have info on the Rolex 5512 etc, but I see reference to a Rolex Chronograph with a McQueen connection on this thread. I have info on the Heuer and Hanhart. Looks like the Bullitt wristwatch might well be a Hamilton. (I know people love comments that go way off-topic, so I'd also like to ask people with info on the Bullitt trousers to get in touch.) My post will probably recommend the vintage Steinhart Ocean as a new option for a vintage Rolex Sub/SD design. Let me know if you can think of others. Thanks/apologies etc. This is a big post, I know, but it's big because it needs explanation so people don't waste their time, you know, being upset with with Steve McQueen/life/somebody who doesn't often post. Oh hang on, that's backfired because the length of the post wastes time. Shit. Oh well, I'll stop typing now.

While I really like gdl's Longines chrono, I do prefer the design of the B+M. But, as I said earlier, $7K is ridiculous.

    +1

If you were a diver, then a big watch face is a plus, imo. The 39 - 40mm subs are too small in the murky depths and the 47mm + divers don't look out of place when strapped on a wet suit or just wearing at sea. Unless you have a big wrist they can look a little strange on dry land, however.

Sorry, but in my view it is too much sizes for your wrist.

No, unfortunately [IMG] Quite modern, sapphire, gloss dial and luminova [IMG] 16710, from 2004.

Still a classic and still looks awesome... I need to get myself one.
