    Love the bezel

    Late on this one but - that watch would look awesome on a brown strap.
    Cheers - this one is staying on brushed steel, but I need another black dial to put on a brown strap.

    this is stunning- i take it it's the 36mm version? i've been tempted by one of these recently. do you not find it a little small? it doesn't look it on your wrist, i'm just interested in how you find it wears.

    I also have an automatic Autavia. With a custom display back, just to play "spot the rotor in the cal 12" [IMG]
    [IMG]

    Haha, my favourite game - trying to convince people cal 12 is automatic...

    wait... where is it? Is it some sort of bumper system rather than a rotor?

    or is there a mini-rotor under that plate at 9 o'clock?

    No, it's a micro-rotor movement (a Buren, I think) situated under a chronograph module, that's why it's not visible.

    It is a 36mm. Sure, it's a bit on the small (and THIN) side - but the 39mm is huge and not for me. The 36mm fits me perfectly, and is lovely non-bullshit (as opposed to the ROO line...). Keep in mind that I have a rather slim 6,5ish" wrist.

    And it has one of the coolest bracelets ever;

    [IMG]

    I agree -- it was the bracelet more than anything else that initially drew me to the Royal Oak. It is currently my grail watch, but I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to justify dropping that much cash on a timepiece. However, my fortieth birthday will be here before I know it....

    Had a stressful night at work, but once I had sorted things out I stopped to snap a picture of my watch. The face was smudged all over with synthetic oil-based mud, but I do this to it all the time and it cleans up just fine. Except when I had a wound spring explode on me one day, it put a small nick in the case and a small cut on my cheek. [IMG]

    Singular is (of course) right. To quote chronomaddox.com : The Calibre 11 family was the first modular chronograph construction: a chronograph module made by Dubois-Depraz was attached to a Büren micro-rotor movement.

    Here is a nice exploded view:

    Thanks [IMG] Try On The Dash or the major forums.
    Don't think I've ever seen one for sale on either TimeZone or WatchUSeek. Barely any Heuer vintage at all. Shame because I'd be all over it. I'd like one of those and a Monaco or an original Silverstone.

    A wonderful Calatrava. I love that hobnail bezel. Did you get it with the deployant or the tang buckle?
