There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Thanks. Nomos Ahoi did catch my eye. I will have to see if I can find it to try on as there are only a couple Nomos dealers in my area.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Nomos site says Shreves also carries their watches.

OK, you grab that one, and I'll snatch Roger's 1973 chrono! Seriously, Longines are really interesting me with their value proposition these days.

guys, my buddy wants a Brietling Navitimer. I know it's not my place to steer him in another direction, but for the price I think he can do better. i am no where near that level of spending for a timepiece but i do think there are better "bangs for your buck".

    thoughts?

If he buys second-hand at a good price he probably won't lose too much money. As a new purchase I don't know. I guess you expect to just take the depreciation like a man. Personally, I would get an Omega Speedmaster before the Navitimer.

He could certainly do worse, too. The B01 Montbrilliant version in 40 mm is quite nice apart from the engraving on the side. :)

But yes, I'd go Speedy over Navi as well. Plus you can swim with the Speedmaster; Navis tend to be a bit leaky due to the way the bezel/slide rule dealie is set up.

agree 1000x on the Speedy. he said he tried it on and didn't like it. you don't hear that too often.

anyway, this is the one he likes:

Euro, Nomos and Longines are nice options. You could defo get a Speedy Pro towards the top of that price range and probably a pre-owned Datejust as well. Maybe a Breitling Navitimer too. Good luck and keep us posted.

The main issue wasn't sending the form in for the refund but getting it stamped by customs during operating hours given her time of departure / short layover. My friend is back and was able to get it signed somehow so now we just have to mail the form in. Picking up the watch this week!

The Breitling Navitimer is a distinctive watch with a specific history. If someone likes it, and there are good reasons to do so, there is no point telling him another watch is a better "deal" because there is no other watch that is similar in the ways that make a Navitimer unique.
