Mimo, I went through the same process with the Rolex divers and this is my opinion, for what it's worth.

The DSSD is an excrescence on the wrist. I'd rather sport a pink G-Shock.

The 116610 and 114060 are definitely several steps forward in terms of engineering but perhaps a step backward in terms of design, wearing rather too "square". I definitely prefer older Subs, and of those (recent models) I most prefer the 16600 Sea-Dweller for its extra heft, both literally and (in the visual sense) figuratively. It just feels more substantial and satisfying to wear, without appearing bloated and show-offy in the manner of its lamentable successor. The only caveat I'd have is that the marginal extra thickness might be an issue if you wear tightly-cuffed dress shirts most days. I don't, happily, so ... no worries.

    Well-played, frilly.

    Bonus points for The Upton.

RogerP: get it over with. And take some cool pictures!

    Hayward: touché ...

For those looking at $9K-ish for the latest, greatest Rolex GMT.....may I present the oldest, greatest GMT (gilt-dial 1675, photo from HQ Milton)....

Oh man. That patina makes me feel a little spendy.

    very nice family pic, frills.

you need to do a semi circle of three up top, and a semi circle of three below, and the crown jewel in the center. thats how you do a collage of 7.

or if you want to wimp out, 2 on top of 3 on top of 2.

Frills, your collection is beautiful. Wish I knew more about PP as the only one I can name is the nautilus. Still learning from this thread!

Wow, Frills, so many pateks, and it's photoes like those got me to buy a grand complication watch, that Longines Retrograde; albeit it's not even 1/10 the price of a Patek. :embar:

And the Upton photo did melt my screen haha.

question for you guys. i wrote a blog post for work about the rolex gold sub 116618LN i posted a few pages ago. it was kind of a fluffy piece, but it was not meant for TWATy people, just regular watch folk. i wonder what you guys think of the changes made to it as compared to the 16610.

Personally, not really a big fan of the more contemporary look of bigger lugs and crown guards, it's just not as streamlined as the older models.

50/50 on the larger markers and hands.

The ceramic bezel is nice as it's scratch resistant and true to colour been black in all conditions.

and got to love the glidelock clasp and solid links.

That does seem to be the general opinion. I think that I do like the larger case size though.

Speaking of Rolex, I am on my way to go pick up my very own. YAY 4 ME!!1!
