Hey, Frill, you didn't notice the pic I took of your birthday present - tried on in the wild today while I was waiting for my lunch meeting to turn up:

I have a basic question for the watcheads in this thread: I recently purchased an early 70's Omega Seamaster De Ville. The watch seems to run fine as long as I wear it for a few hours everyday. If I put it on the watch winder, however, it doesn't seem to charge it up at all. It doesn't matter if the watch winder is running clockwise or counter clockwise. Any ideas on why the watch doesn't charge on the winder?

the winder is such a slow rotation that the weight is likely sticking in one position. Wearing it on your wrist causes more "forceful" rotation allowing it to be wound. Probably needs a servicing.

Glad you mentioned this, Newcomer. I was curious about the Big Bird strap. I really liked that look myself, but I can see where black could be preferable for daily/dressier wear in office environments.

Oh, and Mimo, I'm wearing my "ostentatious" 116520 today:

    Awesome possum Keith.

I think that a collection can EASILY include both a Speedy and a Daytona.

Those old Navitimers are beautiful, Stitch.

Back to the new Rolex GMT....can you elaborate on the blue color...what are your thoughts? Darker/lighter than expected? Is your wrist shot a fairly true representation?

Sounds as though you really liked it.

I still haven't seen one in person yet.

What would be a ballpark estimate for a good servicing, assuming I took it to an authorized dealer or equivalent?

inorite. i checked, the cases were locked. sorry.

the color is pretty much how it shows in the pic, at least on my monitor, iirc. the color is exactly what i hoped for. its like the perfect shade if you wanted to wear a blue suit and black tie. is absolutely gorgeous as far as im concerned. hands down the top rolex i want to own right now.

Stitch - did you go to Faber while you were in the hood? It's like two blocks from tourneau

That Breitling Top Time is badass. On a similar subject, I really want a Breitling Top Time. I think that would be a great first foray into the world of vintage.

Stitchy! I am sorry to miss you while you were in town. I was in Pennsylvania for the weekend communing with Sesame Street characters: exactly what I wanted to do for Father's Day, of course. You were in my 'hood too by the Wempe/Rolex boutiques!

If we're ever in town at the same time I hope you'll do me the honor of buying you lunch.
