I thought they'd just brought it in house. The columnwheel and flyback complication lend some legitimacy to the pricehike.

No, the Caliber 89361 was designed and made in-house from the ground-up. IWC has been using it in their nicer chronographs. Completely different animal. I believe the 3714 with the Valjoux 7750 will continue on as an entry-level watch.

Yeah, it is going to do well. Particularly since they didn't cut off any numerals. A triumph in and of itself.

No kidding. I guess that is one big advantage of having an in-house movement. Valjoux 7750 was too small I guess, so they had to put the subdials closer to the center of the watch.

I hear you. My watch is the ugly country cousin of yours, and I think a couple of years older! Also currently broken (by my dropping it on the floor only months after having it restored), and on its way to Switzerland for a consultation with the doctor...

Overall, a handsome watch, although I'd have preferred no date.

I would have preferred side-by-side sub-dials, too. But that was never going to happen. IWC seems to have decided the vertical top-bottom arrangement is their thing.

Are you sure you aren't on your way to Basel, mimo, to splurge on that perpetual calendar split-seconds chronograph minute repeater tourbillon???
