Saw this one in the store yesterday. Nice looking watch. But I wish it were automatic instead of hand-wound. I know I'm in the vast minority here..

yeah, i dont know why, but with panerai i really like them to be hand wound. maybe since i think of it as a tool watch, and wanding it up is more tool like. sorry.

yeah I definitely get it. I'm sure one day I'll come around. It's just I feel naked without a date function, and although this particular PAM has a date, I've been drinking the "automatic kool-aid" a little too long!

i get what you mean, i do like my automatics, but with panny im all about the hand wind.

interesting you mention about the date tho. i never thought i would mind not having a date, but i find myself checking my 112 many times a day still, for the date. only to groan when i realize its not there. lol.

Got in touch. Was gonna visit yesterday but our schedules didn't work out. Will try to fix an appointment this week and report back.

Aren't they all hand wound? I always associate that crown with a hand wound movement.

interesting question. i dont know if the crown is an indicator, but panerai definitely makes automatics. i wonder if all the models with the "onion" crown are hand wound.

Has interest in these watches vanished?
I have the one depicted, as well as the white-faced version of what is described in the second link.
    Also, an aviator dialed Pythagore.

    Are you showing, or selling?

I was admiring them much, and wishing that they were just a tad larger in diameter.

Just showing. the Rose Gold 2000 at 34mm is perfect for me. I would have thought this steel cased, white-dialed one, at 36mm, would be right up your alley.

The Pythagore, without the center seconds hand "complication" is also 34mm
