Thoughts on the plain jane Milgauss (non-GV) as a daily beater?

While I’m personally not a huge fan of the polished lugs, it is a steel Rolex, so it’s still one of the best options available for non-coddled daily wear.

If you’re OK with the extra thickness of its double case and the lack of date display, I doubt you’d be disappointed.

I’m constantly shocked at the traction Instagram has given to watch sales (@the follow me movement!).
It’s quite insane.

As long as movement is mechanical I am ok with it.

seems obvious to me that fok's sudden hyperactivity in this thread is first step in a bid to gain traction among luxury watch advertisers (after all this is basically the only segment keeping glossy print magazines afloat)

Never thought of it that way but it makes sense. To the extreme detriment of this thread unfortunately.

i'm hardly best placed to comment, i had the 36mm version and sold six years ago for £1500, retail price is now £5k
admittedly i do much prefer the lumed numerals, and overall i think 39mm is a better size for a steel bracelet sports watch.

I mostly got interested in watches organically. Started buying watches for my wife, which naturally became an interest in watches for myself. I like interesting things, but it's a combination of that and the fairly rigorous constraints of what I'll buy for my personal use that makes my interest lasting. I also seem to have a bit of a knack for turning my hobbies into a going concern, and sure, is love to have sponsorship from a luxury watch company, but I can assure you that buying tens of thousands of dollars in watches and mucking about with them is a rather circuitous route to that end. Maybe I'll send someone or go myself to Baselworld and SIHH just to see what the fuss is all about, though. Of course, I'd need a guide, and I typically hire from within the community.

Back on topic, @Dino944 - is there anything different about the movements in the anniversary editions of the 38mm Pasha?

No, difference in movements. Unless one is buying an early quartz chronograph version, or one of the early complicated models which often used movements by Gerald Genta, then there are generally 4 movements used in 38 mm automatic Pashas. The time with date window model used a basic ETA, the power reserve and second time zone model used a GP based movement, and the chronograph used the F.Piguet 1185 (the same base used in many BPs, Breguets, and in the AP RO Chrono and the old VC Overseas Chronographs. There was a model with a date window and power reserve indicator at 6 (no second time zone), but at the moment the movement used in that escapes me. Cheers!
