Funnily enough I am about to travel with what’s left of the collection. The movers can move the boxes, but I would rather fly with the watches.

The Omega was my dad’s retirement watch. Keep it around for the sentimental value.

Panerai is another watch brand you only need one of. Every financebro in the 2010s bought one with their first bonus. The lugs are like the arms on a T-Rex. View attachment 1967915

I have more than 1 Panerai, I like the design language. I am at the “old man yells at cloud” stage of life, but I appreciate that they do their reason for existence (telling time) so well. Clear legible dials/numbers with good lume, nothing superfluous. When I see a watch with 8-10 hands and 34 lines of text, I yell at clouds.

Never seen such an odorous accumulation of f*cking trash. I love you.

Like it. Definitely out of the ordinary. Case has a little bit of a Tank Chinoise vibe.

Yeah, but if you were actually considering this watch, I'd go back to try it again wearing something completely different because you are overtly matchy-matchy with the two-tone in this photo, which might be contributing to your perception of the two-tone feeling more subtle, or correct, or whatever....
Yeah on the naked wrist, it could look more flashy. But still, there is something nice about that two-tone Explo.

But I am a fan of simple Rolexes.

Any reason not to get a watch double AR coated? Everyone says they scratch easily but this hasn't been my experience. This will be a dress watch too, so not like I'm doing much where it would get scratched...

Not a fan of those (sailcloth?) straps, but that's my favourite Seiko - maybe one of my favourite watches overall: Great version of the 62MAS, nicely brushed Ever Brilliant Steel case (unlike some other 62MAS luxury re-issues), just enough pop of colour from the dial and seconds hand, and just a touch of zaratsu polishing on the rehaut (IIRC). Only potential problems seem to be the unregulated movement (an embarrassment at this price) and maybe the case thickness. Did he get lucky with the accuracy? And do you feel the thickness is fine?

I love this watch (though as some may remember I had it in black and sold it for reasons), but on the Artem it’s maybe the perfect and best way to wear it. The strap being padded balances the heft of the watch nicely more than a NATO; the fact it can be worn in water is ideal, but the backing of it is rubber so it won’t feel soggy like a NATO.
I plan to get one for my next black dial diver
