Tudor GMT. Bought it the first year it came out.

Had the date wheel problem. Twice. Second time it was out of warranty. To their credit, Tudor serviced the watch for free both times.

On a bracelet the watch it top heavy and way too thick. So cheapo nylon strap for $30.

There comes a time when the hassle of owning or acquiring something turns the experience negative. That is definitely true with this watch. As much as I want to like this watch, I can't. The fit is not that good, but the movement QC issue is something I would expect from Squale, not Tudor.

So this is the ******* I wear when going to the garden center to buy plants.

Not a fan of those (sailcloth?) straps, but that's my favourite Seiko - maybe one of my favourite watches overall: Great version of the 62MAS, nicely brushed Ever Brilliant Steel case (unlike some other 62MAS luxury re-issues), just enough pop of colour from the dial and seconds hand, and just a touch of zaratsu polishing on the rehaut (IIRC). Only potential problems seem to be the unregulated movement (an embarrassment at this price) and maybe the case thickness. Did he get lucky with the accuracy? And do you feel the thickness is fine?

And, honestly, it's not that attractive either.

Congrats, but you need some diversity. Try some RT, for a change.

The problem these days is that most things are purchased sight unseen. You can't try anything on because there is no stock.

When I picked up the Tudor at the AD there was a customer that had the new Rolex Pepsi GMT in steel that was released in 2018. The ceramic bezel looked purple instead of blue, and the red looked more like Hubba Bubba pink gum. They've changed the color in subsequent generations, but the first ones were more Tahiti Treat than Pepsi.

I appreciate the new Rolex display stock policy. I recently tried on a green GMT lefty at an AD and it felt like I was wearing the watch upside down. No dice.

These days I find myself buying 1990s and 2000s Rolex simply because I know they fit, aren't too heavy, and I like the look. Best thing of all is they are available for a reasonable price. Even a 1990s Daytona is cheaper on Chrono 24 than a new ceramic Daytona.

The Tudor was a lesson learned. "School fees" to quote Mark Cho. Just glad it was only $4K.

If you have a relationship with a boutique you will get shown pieces that are not on display.
