I just called the AP boutique in NY and was told you need to show up in-person to "start a relationship".

I'm in SLC/Vancouver, and neither place has a boutique. When I have been to their boutiques the sales people have not been that knowledgeable.

Kind of an insane policy.

Is there a boutique that is more reasonable? I work ~80 hours a week and consuming a bunch of time to go to a watch brand's store seems like a bad use of time. It would be a lot cheaper to just buy grey lol. What an asinine policy if true.
Way more important things in life than kowtow to a watch dealer. Don't waste your time or money with a company that does business like this.

Ok. This weird little... (I mean Petit) Prince grew on me so I ended up getting it for myself. A sacrifice had to be made but it is another step towards a more curated collection... I hope.

The only reason I was able to get a 15500 is because my client and friend is banging the sales associate in the particular boutique I purchased at. I called in a favor and boom, done.

Which raises the interesting question. Imagine your SA looks like this:

Would you? Could you? Maybe for a Royal Oak or a Nautilus but not a lesser watch?

Well I mean, taking a macro view we can say that about most watches.

I think this is a beautiful dress watch but again, taking a wide view of it, this can be an IWC/Fredique Constant/Hamilton watch.

You literally just knocked the Moser for being too “boring”, and it’s literally almost identical to whatever the f*ck this piece of trash is.

In a very general sense yes, but what is different in terms of Daniel Roth vs your IWC/FC/Hamilton example is they usually work with round cases. In terms of DR here was a guy originally making watches with a truly unusual design. You couldn't mistake it for anything else. So he went from making one of the most instantly recognizable watches back then, to making something that looks like it could come from any other maker. There is nothing unusual about the design of the lugs, the case, or even the crown.

To me the Laurent Ferrier while round, has a very fluid soft rounded look. So even in the most common case shape, round, he manages to have a look that is different from a Calatrava, a Patrimony, or a Breguet Classique.
