What I really want is someone to get me some of that sweet Camp Lejeune settlement money even though I never lettered in armed forces.

I need to see if any of my colleagues have tried to get in on those claims.

Sadly, I’m too young to get in on any of that sweet, sweet tainted water money as I didn’t set foot on Lejeune until the mid ‘90s. I’ll have to stick with my small timer disability rating and be happy with my Seiko.

Some more shots before I start beating the **** out of this thing.

What a perfect watch! I’m really glad they restored the classic lug and case proportions. The last version’s maxi lugs weren’t ugly or anything, but they were certainly a distinct and unnecessary divergence.

It wears just a tad bigger all around compared to the Daytona, but feels distinctly lower profile compared to the prior Submariner. As other commentators have noted, the 41mm case diameter on paper is misleading. First of all, that number is rounded up. But more importantly, the thinner, smaller lugs make the watch wear smaller overall. Whereas I felt that the older version looked too bulky on my wrist, this one seems just right for a sport watch.

By the way, I noticed recently that asking prices for original Vacheron 222s in yellow gold are in the $60-65K range.

Why is that interesting?

Well, the new 222 remake from VC is going to retail for $69K. Meanwhile, Vacheron and the entire universe of sycophant journalists / influencers have been talking up how demand for these watches is off the charts and getting one will be impossible.

I have no doubt that the watches will be hard to get, as they’ll only be available through VC boutiques and the boutiques will constrain supply. However, current market prices for the original watch, which should be higher than for the remake, suggest that demand is not anything like what Vacheron or the covering media claims.

See no further than Vacheron’s own 1921 for a precedent example of how the company tries to falsify hype. They make the watch hard to get and talk up how they can’t keep up with demand, but then the secondary market starts filling up with watches that are slow to sell even for under retail.

**** Vacheron.

You still have your 1921 or you moved on from it?

Nobody needs that, but it's hot. Not hiding the hammers is a great idea. Watching them go at it would probably be more erotic than that stupid porno Ulysse Nardin a few pages back.

It’s also just more comfortable than the previous version. Wider lug widths helped a lot with that. Additionally, post 2022 models have really good AR coating. So much better than older generations.
