Have degrees in Economics; Engineering; & Physics. On top of which, MSC Eng; & Phd in Physics. Studies are my work (Well, hobby).
And thanks, Chocomallo.

If I used emojis I would use the bowing down one. Which was the hardest? Law studies must feel like reading Page 6 gossip.

New gronefeld sold out almost instantly. It's beautiful. The fidget spinner on the front side is so cool. These are hard watches to photograph well. My 1941 lights up wayyyyy more than the other similarly priced watches I've had as they polish the fk out of everything.

This is cool. It reminds me of the Ferdinand Berthoud 1.4. Not a chrono, but to me a similar aesthetic. I would take the FB over the Gronefeld personally, but both are awesome. Similar price range and availability.

Some fun stuff from the Delugs sale. Color 8 Horween Chromexcel on the left.

I may have gone a small bit crazy with the Delugs sale...I decided between my NOMOS and my Armin Strom, I was just going to go all-in on 18mm straps and now I have them...with these I have a total of 14 if I include the OEM straps, a good portion of which will work on either watch.

This watch in a 34-36mm size is my dream watch! I have medium sized wrists (17cm) and can get away with some smaller watches, but 31mm would be a bit too much...

Do you know the ref number or have a link to it?

Mark has mentioned before that it is a platinum Patek 96 which is the originator of the Calatrava line.

He found a very good condition one and sent it back to Patek to be fully restored/refinished with took 2+ years if I recall correctly, and I'm sure it cost a pretty penny. Not sure if having applied bregeut numerals is an option for all restored/refinished watches or if it was an option for Mark because it was a platinum model...to me those and the 'like new' condition are what set this piece into grail status

However, since its from the first half of the 20th century, it clocks in at 31mm which is too small for my liking...I can go down to 34mm but anything thing smaller than that on my 17cm wrist looks too far off for my own tastes

Most of the greys are very small businesses that aren't eligible for non-recourse debt, so they use personally guaranteed SBA or similar debt which means high pressure to perform. They are also in a very, very narrow margin business.

My assumption is this article is pretty far off and we see dealers start to panic once their credit lines dry up b/c their inventory isn't moving fast enough.

The greys seem to be owned by people that blow their money on dumb **** too in my experience.

Always wondered what the (very generalized) math and margin is for grey dealers for 'in-demand' watches

For instance, if a Rolex GMT is 10K at retail and the market rate is 20K...then are they buying from a person at 15K and then netting a 5K for overhead, expenses, and profit? If that is the case...what sort of margins are they typically making?

Nah, flip 4-5 Rolex and you get a "free" one... this is from someone I personally know.

I would imagine it is a break even at best hobby business for most.

It’s a HB to hide the Porsche crest with the new watch. I don’t make the rules.
