Welp, one of the ADs I've been frequenting in the search for a ND Sub was just bought out by Watches of Switzerland...have the distinct feeling this is going to be 2 steps back instead of 1 step forward...

Yep, my AD in Dallas was bought out by WoS, and even though they kept on many of the staff, I no longer have any "sway" there.

yea, I doubt I had any 'sway' there beforehand but I figured a small local AD with a few stores in the region might be a bit easier to work with than a multi-national conglomerate

"Sway" probably isn't the right word, but I generally had a minimum discount secured for any purchase and a much better than average chance to get anything limited I really wanted.

Just caught up on the last 2 weeks of posts. What a wild ride.

Flashbacks of that scene in Requiem For A Dream.

Oh man, what a beautiful watch. Why past tense?

A bunch of factors. For a smallish watch, its very thick and doesn't slide under a cuff very well. I never liked the deployant clasp even though Cartier invented it. Stupid silly prices now. Service cost is like USD 4,000 now. Can't really wear it in the summer where I live, which is about 6 months out of the year. And I lost interest in the hobby and sold all my watches but one. Some guy in an even more tropical climate bought it, haha.

And Jennifer Connelly...magnificent. Then and now.

Out of curiosity, anyone have any thoughts or experiences with the VC Historiques triple calendar? Had an opportunity to try this watch on recently and I quite liked it. Seems relatively reasonably priced for what it is.

I think it is a pretty watch, but I kind of despise the concept of a triple calendar.

Triple-date chronographs are pretty cool:

Rolex would make a killing if it released a modern version of this watch. That would be news to get excited about instead of the incremental changes that happen every year.
