for a vintage piece, at least in my opinion, as long as the visible aspects of it retain their originality and patina that’s what’s most important. I’m not sure how that translates to the value should it go on the auction block, but in my case the function was far more important than the auction value.

See, for me, I'd rather have a watch with a pristine service dial than a junky, patina'd original dial. I don't buy to re-sell though, I just buy to wear for myself.

and That’s another school of thought. I suppose as long as resale is not a concern then it’s up to the individuals taste.

I know in the world of car collecting there’s a move toward keeping the car as original, including paint, as possible.

Perhaps @Dino944 can chime in as he’s more knowledgeable.

You must never wear it, which I totally appreciate.

I wear it in rotation of 3 watches in total, but indeed it gets worn outdoors merely a couple of times a year, especially with the whole Cerveza situation. When I wear it, I am also conscious of not banging it around or someone else inflicting any damage to it. It might be considered a nothing special neo-vintage piece to some hard core Vintage Rolex collectors, to me it is a grail piece I really love and that ticks all my boxes.

I wear a Panerai 27B I purchased some 10 years ago as a "daily beater", although even on this piece I have only put a few minor scratches and dings on in the time I have owned it. I'm kinda OCD when it comes to keeping my stuff in good condition.
