Sold my Breitling and Seiko Tuna and finally saved up enough for my all time grail ..the newer ceremic planetocean (43mm).
Picked up a mint pre-owned from a reseller on WatchRecon (all papers, warranty card, etc).

Have owned this for 3 weeks now and it's runnijng like 2 secs fast. Very impressed !!

Not a fan personally. I understand your sentiment regarding the Day-Date as I have the same hangup. I’ve been thinking about an Omega Speedmaster in YG or RG.

Right. I can't bring myself to have a full gold speedy - just too big in that metal for me. I think I'm leaning toward 38, aqua terra, but in no rush, so...

Maybe it's just me, but gold versions of SS models always take a bath... unless you get a model that only comes in precious metal.

I mean, do you like it? Isn't that what matters?

Personally, I think it looks atrocious, but that's just me. Who cares what I think?!

Well, you see, this is kind of a watch thread, so just as a basic premise posting a watch and asking for thoughts on that watch is basically the prime function - especially since the comments are not meant to be constrained to "what you like" but rather: have you seen the watch in real life? have you put one on? how does the bracelet feel. how does the dial catch light? How does the rose gold compare to other brands? etc...

Ok, then. I think that watch looks like a pile of **** and has so many ugly features that I wouldn't wear it if it was free.

Still in pursuit of a full gold piece. After trying a few day dates I'm starting to feel they might be too bold (as an identifiable icon) for my taste. I had the rose gold aqua terra on my radar as well, but now I've stumbled upon this 38mm constellation. What do you folks think of this guy (assuming too that I could get it at a pretty deep discount...):

Really dislike this one. In its original form in the 1980s, with the flat bezel and slimmer profole, it was a rather interesting luxury sports watch (I tried it on years ago). I think it still looked better in all steel or steel and gold. However, once they revamped it, made it larger, chunkier, and gave it much bolder side accent pieces they ruined it, at least in my eyes.

Keep searching, you'll find something.

Charming and helpful as always...

I mean he could have been a bit more tactful, but even under the "different strokes for different folks" line of philosophy of buy what you like, I don't disagree...

(right...did you catch the part where I said at a "deep discount"?)
bro.....$12K is the most I'd pay for that watch so I'm not sure what target price you have in mind. As stated by others, buy what you like and enjoy it. Although, it seems like you are looking to justify the purchase by gaining consensus from other members here - also a bad reason to but a watch (expensive or otherwise).

good luck!

Yeah, I hear you. My point was that the "I don't like it...do you like?" responses are fine, but that type of response certainly doesn't indicate the boundaries for "thoughts" on a watch...The "well do you like?" advice is kind of assumed (no?).

It’s not a good looking watch ... way too much ornamentation and flim-flam. But obviously, it attracted you for some reason. Why?

I think it might have been said already, but the universe of prime, all-gold (case + bracelet) watches is very small. Really, it comes down to a Rolex, Royal Oak, or Nautilus. These are watches that were designed solely to be worn on a bracelet and where the bracelet is integral to the overall design. Most other gold watches were primarily designed to be worn on a strap—a bracelet tends to look like an afterthought.

Also, part of the appeal of an all-gold watch is the “**** you” factor. How can it not be? You need to start with a sportier, chunkier base model to make this work. A gold Calatrava or Tank LC on a gold rice bead bracelet is the exact opposite of what I’d aim for.

Gold Speedmaster is okay-ish. It looks good, but I think bang-for-buck, egalitarian value is core to the Speedy’s appeal. I suppose you could argue making it in gold would be a statement in irony, but it’s not a statement anyone is likely to get. I personally don’t care about the statement it makes, but I do consider it somewhat incongruent from a design/concept perspective. For all that makes the Speedy great, it is not an apex watch—you could spend more on a nicer, similarly functioning watch before upgrading to precious metal. Gold Daytona would be a better pick.
