Traveling up to NYC this weekend - any interesting watch-related stores to hit up in lower Manhattan? looking more along the lines of places with interesting independent or vintage stuff as opposed to big name ADs

Cellini Jewelers carries a lot of independents but they're closer to Central Park.

For vintage, make an appointment to visit the headquarters of Analog/Shift. Really friendly guys. I went there many years ago; IIRC, they're in Midtown East in the 50s. They have a smaller selection of vintage at Watches of Switzerland in Soho.

Watches of Switzerland has a new flagship location in Hudson Yards. Might want to give them a call to see where they have their vintage stuff located.

Echo Cellini, but as others noted, it's in Midtown. One of the few places you can get Parmigiani in the States.

Generally, I find downtown better for womenswear and uptown better for menswear. There are of course a handful of exceptions, e.g. The Armoury, but just speaking in broad strokes.

If you're a coffee drinker, check out Kona Coffee & Company in the East Village. It's been my go to roaster over the last few months. My wife, who hates coffee with the fire of 10,000 suns, enjoys the matcha stuff there.

Material Good in Soho is an Audemars Piguet AD (one of the last) and also has vintage watches. Last time I was there they had a bunch of vintage, pre-Zenith Daytonas and military-issue Breguet Type 20s. A couple years ago they had a brand new gold 15202 for sale. Just sitting there. Oops. They also have jewelry and Hermes Kelly and Birkin bags, so your wife or girlfriend has stuff to look at too.

Madison Fine Time and Michael Ashton are independent vintage/pre-owned Patek specialists. Museum-like in collection quality and size. May need to make an appointment. Don’t go in looking for a bargain ...

The FP Journe boutique is awesome.

Isn't FP Journe on 66thish and Madison?

Yes it is uptown, but the vast majority of good watch shopping is uptown or midtown. Material Good is the best I can think of downtown, but it’s a worthy visit. Watches of Switzerland also has a location in Soho, but he wants vintage or independent.

Oh, if you’re midtown, the Patek boutique inside Tiffany on 5th is spectacular. The closest thing to a Patek Salon in the US.

Further afield, Manfredi in Greenwich is an awesome AD for independents: Journe, De Bethune, Laurent Ferrier, Speak-Marin, Voutilainen, Ressence, etc. Plus they are an AD for Rolex, the biggest independent of them all!

So he can see lots of empty display cases!

You have to think of the possibilities! You can rack up serious spend on cool independents to get a Daytona. Not really possible almost anywhere else.

Are there any other top makers of bespoke watch straps other than Camille Fournet, Jean Rousseau, and ABP Paris?
