Trump's suit jackets are way too long. I bet the jackets are a Long because he's deceived himself into thinking he is his claimed 6' 3". He is noticeably shorter than Obama, who is listed at 6' 1.5", when they're standing side-by-side.

A yellow gold DD is a bit too on point and too nice as well. I would have loved to see Biden rock a Skydweller--the President of all people needs a GMT--but again, too nice. The DJ is a good compromise. (I believe it was a gift from his wife.)
I’d dispute the president of all people - a bit USA centric don’t you think ?

The graphene version is more special, but the regular Ti version (with several straps) is a better daily driver unless you wear a lot of military-inspired clothing, in which case the former would look smashing. The H08 on rubber strap reminds me a bit of the PP Aquanaut without being an homage. It's obviously not nearly the watch, but is a fraction of the cost and readily available at retail.

I do get the Aquanaut vibe a bit, which coincedentally is the only unobtanium watch that I actually would like to own at some point, though I’m partial to the travel time version.

There are a few watch features that I’ve been looking for in my collection that this could bring (and not something I necessarily expected to have all in one watch), which is why this has really hit my interest.

*Squarish watchcase.
*My desire for a “sports” watch, something relatively thin, which would be primarily worn on a rubber strap, but isn’t so out there I would feel weird wearing it while visiting clients. Titanium is a nice plus here
*Lumed applied numerals (a surprisingly rare feature in watches)

Closest I’ve had to something that served this purpose was my old GO Seventies, but I found that unbalanced on the rubber strap, a bit thicker than necessary and the dial a bit too boring.

Obama didn’t look frumpy or like a slob. Though, similar to Biden, he demonstrates no notable taste. Trump’s problem is 99% because he’s horribly out of shape.

Trump’s watches are the best of the trio.
Obama's suits looked frumpy. Trump just looked like ****. Biden looks average in a suit.

Blue Datejusts have been hard to get for almost 4 years now. This is not new.

Biden is the first President in recent memory (other than Trump, who was cosplaying as President) who has no reservations about wearing a nice watch as President. I think it may be due to the fact that Biden is a Washington insider about whom everyone's opinion is already set in stone as opposed to a Washington outsider who wanted to come across as a man of the people (Clinton, W., Obama).

I don’t know what he wore before, but he was in the private sector for 4 years, so I don’t see anything unusual about his Rolex.

Fake news. Through 2019, you could still order a blue dial Datejust and have it within weeks. 2020 was a screwed up year all around, but folks were still able to order and get this watch through the fall.

At least he wears a pocket square.

This is not an automatic plus.

I find it interesting that the watch brands that are showing the most creativity in design are the jewelry houses (Cartier, Bvlgari, Hermes) and the independents/microbrands (Moser, Ming). It may be because the more established watch brands are naturally risk averse. They have more to lose by introducing a new model that falls flat with the public.

Bulgari, Hermès and Cartier also have a design heritage that they bring to the watchmaking. This was mentioned above but I really love some of the stuff coming out of Hermès.

Everywhere.

Could you be a bit more specific...say, who on this thread has EVER proclaimed a deep desire for a 40mm blue dial datejust in connection with Biden? I remember the whole discussion about Biden sporting the watch and the pros and cons of the choice, etc, but I don't recall it directly inspiring anyone to go get the same watch, no?

Backstory - Magnum was a navy officer/seal/pilot?

so I asked my father in law about watches. He's a Navy guy, did the academy, his 8 years of service, 3 "pac" or whatever tours in the USS Olympia, and now he's in the middle east half the time as a nuclear engineer.

I figured he'd know a few things about watches and the water so I asked.

"a watch? Yeah? For your hypotethical jewelry box in your hypotetical submarine suite?"

that's all i got. i knew what he meant.
