Hobbyists that like the watch vs liking the brand or what is currently in trend. Both are legit hobbyists ?

I guess they all could fall under legit hobbyists, I'm not necessarily trying to be a gatekeeper.

But its pretty clear that I am buying X and not removing any of its tags/stickers so I can sell it as soon as possible for 2-3x is interested in the profit hobby and not the watch hobby.

I think the core point you’re missing is that flippers don’t create demand. Their existence and market activities are not why you can’t get the watch you want. It’s simply that there are too many other buyers who are willing to pay more than you.
Absolutely correct. Flippers are creating essential liquidity in the market.

Speaking of making things true that're on the net, can we put our wish list for what models our favourite makers should do next here, and then have somebody make sure they get that info?

Did you ever see that ad actually run? It always looked super fake to me, and according to this, it is. Seems like the BMW one is real, though. And more than a decade old, predating the fake Aston one.
The Aston one is definitely fake, there’s a spelling mistake in it.

I’m amazed that the BMW one passed muster. Misogyny is going to put an awful lot of customers off.

Guitar companies look at what’s been posted on forums, no reason why watch companies shouldn’t .

Who's going to blink if an ad like that runs in, say, Playboy? Especially a decade ago or more.

You don't think this thread is important enough that all the marketing and R&D bigwigs for the major watchmakers have their eyes glued to their screens and are constantly pressing F5 for updates? How non-Styleforvm of you.

Unfortunately it seems like they're much more interested in selling ever larger watches by the thousands just because the masses want them, instead of the couple of handfuls they could sell to us that want something more traditional.

True enough, I’m not sure who looks at the ads in Playboy though, it’s like the people who claimed they bought it for the articles.

Never seen either ad in print, only on the net. I'd be shocked if the BMW one is real, as it seems a bit over the top for such a conservative brand that largely targets families -selling sedans and SUVS. Still they are amusing.
