Yeah man that's scalding hot, no doubt...probably my favorite style of Royal Oak.

Congratulations.

May not be an identical model, and I'm sure it's been mentioned here before-- but I like to think of these two-tone models as being the "Prince Michael of Kent" version.

From what I have read previously, Prince Michael of Kent wears an early two tone 5402 Jumbo. Here is a photo someone posted. Not sure if the one to the right is his actual watch.

Looks like Patek is actually going to discontinue the 5711A ?

Yes, that's been mentioned around here recently. Then again, there were other previous Nautilus models. Rumor has it, there will be a replacement.

You mean 5711A? P is the platinum model.
Indeed - the stainless steel blue variant.

I imagine the replacement will be bigger, and won't come in steel

Picked this up as an early Christmas present for myself six weeks ago. Really enjoying it so far. For the longest time I was against two-tone. But think it really works here

Congratulations, very nice indeed.

The Royal Oak is the one and only bi-metal watch that I like. The minimalist use of brushed gold just works as a styling choice, rather than coming across as a cry for attention.

Rolex two tones, on the other hand, I find positively emetic.

I think it would be nice to see Patek move-on from the Nautilus, while it is iconic, 45 years is a very long run.
You really don't think this looks good?

(not my pic, sadly)
I agree, it looks good. In fact, the Rolex sports models (on Oyster bracelet) are pretty much - along with the Bulgari Octo Solotempo - are the only 2-tones watches I particularly care for.

I have handled it in person a few times and hate to say it but it looked "cheap" to me. the full rose gold or everose gold version looks stunning on the other hand.

The full gold one is too much for me...the two-tone is the best GMT that Rolex makes IMO. I've handled them too and think they're awesome.

Not bad. Still, I've never been a fan of the Yachtmaster. I don't like the idea of what is basically a Submariner with a precious metal bezel, but a lower water resistance rating.

Yeah, the YM as a concept is a bit of a tough sell.
