Indeed, a black matte diamond dial 18238. Question is, why do I need two DD's?



I hadn't seen one in the metal either before this example but I had been intrigued when looking at the DD variations. Think it adds visual interest and texture, though in that same regard, probably draws more attention to the watch.

Now, where can I find that WG DD?

I also have a 18238. It took me over 6 months, but found one in excellent condition with no discernible bracelet stretch. But to be honest, I hardly wear it. It is a bit flashy, although it‘s never been polished so the case and bracelet are not exactly shiney. I noticed that in the past couple of years they‘ve become quite popular. I guess since you can find them in decent shape starting at 10k.

My mom has an 18k DJ with a bark president bracelet. It‘s her daily wearer and she‘s had it for as long as I can remember, so it looks totally „normal“ to me. It has a diamond bezel though, so the effect isn’t as strong as on the DD.

Rolex service question:

I am due to service my GMT soon. This will be the third service its received, I had it sent in through two different ADs due to relocating. I am now ~45 min from the last AD I sent my watch in through, and ~20 min from a new AD...Is there any added benefit to keeping my business at the previous AD or should i just switch to the new once for convenience sake? I'm not a frequent customer, but I would like to buy a nicer watch in the next couple of years and I know that now a days people need to be on the list to get a certain Rolex models or be considered a 'valuable customer

I think you can email or call the RSC and they'll send a shipping package to ship to the RSC.

I'm not sure on what all you can request but I know you don't get to keep the old parts if anything is replaced. From what I've heard, you send the watch and then they send you a list of recommended services, parts to be replaced, polishing and the price of each. You can then choose what you want done.

You can request that they replace the bezel. I did that on Daytona I had years ago. Its not a big deal. They quote you a price, if you agree, they replace it. As @Texasmade said, they keep the old part that gets replaced.

I wouldn't stress about sending the watch through an AD. They generally don't care and don't make money from sending the watch in for you. They make their money on sales. I also don't do it that way, because at least years ago, a few less scrupulous ADs would claim to send a watch to the manufacturer for service and it would just get serviced by their own watch maker or a local independent (within the last 10 years that happened with a friend's Breitling). So I would send it directly to Rolex myself.

Documents the of the upgraded Speedmaster was leaked (supposedly) and was posted on the Omegaforums.

Omega made the watch about 1mm thinner with the new movement.

You can request that they replace the bezel. I did that on Daytona I had years ago. Its not a big deal. They quote you a price, if you agree, they replace it. As @Texasmade said, they keep the old part that gets replaced.

But if you had knocked off your bezel and lost it, you would probably be able to buy a new replacement, no?

Unrelated question: I've never tried it with my Sub, but isn't popping off your bezel a fairly simple procedure?

Yes, if your watch lost a part like the bezel they would sell you a new one. However, one would have to bring/send the watch to Rolex to get the new part. At least in the US, they won't just take your word for it and send you the part via a telephone or online purchase.

Supposedly, it is easy to remove the bezel on the 5 digit and earlier Sub/GMT models. I've never tried it on mine, so I can't comment on how easy it really is to do.

I love the Speedy. In fact, I'm wearing one right now. I guess its cool that its thinner and has an applied logo, but can someone give me the cliffs notes version of why its $1,600 more than the current one on my wrist?
