I got my wife the Cartier Santos CPCP for her birthday this past year and it's one of the few (maybe only) CPCP that doesnt have a display back, so far as I'm aware.

I thought that the Basculante (in gold) with display back was part of the Privée collection.

I believe you are correct.

The CPCP Santos is a very nice watch! As for other models that didn't have display backs, the CPCP Tonneau, and CPCP Tank Cintree had solid metal case backs.

You provided some guidance on the purchase, so I owe you one. Full disclosure, I bought it for me, but then felt guilty and gave it to my wife. She adores it, so I made the right decision, if a bit late :)

My patient no-showed and, in effect, paid me to take a break and do a strap change :) Finally got to snap a quick pic of my 1957 Trilogy Speedy after removing a recently acquired suede strap (probably JPM) from Hodinkee. BLNR gets the rest of the afternoon off.

Sounds like you made the right decision in more than one way. Happy wife, happy life!

Deep sea, looks for fresh/modern (while contradictory, also has visual hints of a time-gone-by). Leaves the omega looking distinctly tired.

Interesting take as both watches are near perfect homages to their respective models from the late 1950s.

My father's advice to me when I got married, nearly 14 years ago now. Best advice ever. Not that I always follow it, because I'm a dumbass.

I hate that saying. Encompasses everything that is wrong with US.

If that is all that is wrong with America, seems like a decent place. I thought the issue was Russian meddling in elections among other things. Feel free to enlighten us about relationships and watches.

Sheesh. I read it as misandry.
Perhaps it was both.
Thread would be better without character being called to question nor geopolitical debate (not directly related to horological whimsies).

Just a thought.

Maybe - just maybe, it was supposed to be "us" (as in men in general) and not "US".

Well, and Happy Valentine's Day to you and who ever you make miserable in your personal life.

I'm not sure how to interpret your statement. Is it that you don't like the saying because its sort of a cutesy saying? Or you don't think people should try to do things or sometimes give something up to make a wife or partner happy? Or has your life honestly been better when your partner or spouse is unhappy? I guess I've generally thought, that if there is a possibility of making a spouse happy, especially, if its something that doesn't go against one's core beliefs, or its something financial and that one can afford to do...why not do it? I like when Mrs. Dino is happy. If @bdavro23 's wife liked the CPCP Santos, and he is happy to let her enjoy it...then good for both of them!
