My wife's watch is incoming. Not an exact match with my Patek, but thematically in-line.

What are your thoughts on women's watches? Bling? No bling? All the bling??

I think that some bling is fine - the appropriate amount will depend on the personalty and style of the wearer.

Last year I got my gf this watch, which turned out to work just as well as I had hoped:

    - in fact, I struggle to think of another women's watch that's just as pleasing aesthetically at this price (or even 5 times the price of this).

A selection. One as jewellery for special evenings, one for town on a bangle in gold. and one for every day.

Tank Louis is one of the best watch designs of all time, for either gender. Challenge is finding one with a decent movement. Cartier tends to make one or two models at a time that are legitimate watches for watch people, but pickings are always going to be slim.

Also, the price issue (or non-issue?) is a real issue. Tanks don't price as high as Calatravas. When the GF is not a GF, but a wife, and it's not one watch, but a pair of watches, and when it's not your money but "our" money, etc., etc., some extra bling may be necessary to right-size the situation.

No. She gets one watch. ONE.

Actually, she already has a Reverso I gave her back when she graduated from college. So, two is the limit. TWO.

I also got my wife a reverso, with a sunburst dial and silver arabic numerals. And I'm thinking that a Cartier Tank Louis may be next. Probably not in yellow gold, just because she has very little that would match, all the gold and diamonds from our wedding notwithstanding. OMG, is Foo the alterna-me? Or am I an alterna-Foo?

re. Bling. I am pro a little bling, for a special occasion watch. I say a little only because so many watchmakers seem to err on the side of all the bling so often these days.
