Hamilton Murph is under $1000.Knowing Gov. Walz, it's probably a Casio, Tissot, or something under $1,000. Not exactly a luxury goods kind of guy.

It is? What a great deal for a "real" watch.Hamilton Murph is under $1000.
42mm is $995 and 38mm is $895. It might still be out of reach for @Jr Mouse though. It is? What a great deal for a "real" watch.
Confirmed, apparently.

In all the other photos I've seen of him, he seems to be wearing a Casio or maybe a Timex.Knowing Gov. Walz, it's probably a Casio, Tissot, or something under $1,000. Not exactly a luxury goods kind of guy.
Biden has a decent watch game, and so did Obama. I think Clinton's Timex was an affectation. Trump often wears a Patek Golden Ellipse, doesn't he?As far as watch choices go, that is a top watch for an American politician.
Love the Salmon dial 5172g. Probably one of my favorite current PP. I especially like the thin profile of the case. What are your thoughts on that salmon PP5172g? I think that it is different enough from my PP5170g (black dial) to merit consideration.

Heard he had to do Murph in under 45:00 to get the VP nod. @Texasmade would have been the obvious veep choice (brings in Waffle House and British tailoring contingents and maybe puts Texas in play) but the running in Murph disqualified him.Confirmed, apparently.

Very insightful. Thank you. It's not a watch that I liked in photos, as I'm generally not a fan of salmon dials or syringe hands, and I wasn't sure about the lugs. However, in person it really works together very nicely. I think there are so many details that are different enough from your 5170g that you could own it without it feeling duplicative, although both are 2 register chronographs. My favorite modern Patek is still the 5712 in steel or rose gold on matching bracelet, but I did enjoy wearing the 5172g. You should definitely try one on and see if it makes you smile enough to pull the trigger on one. Wishing you lots of luck and fun with your decision!
