  • Epaulet x Styleforum Alpine Loden Collection

Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. Partnering with Rochester Tailored Clothing, we offer custom garments like sportcoats, suits, and overcoats, made to your specifications. Learn more about the Loden collection here.

My friend, you are to the watch thread what Caustic Man was to the WAYW thread… btw he is an ex-soldier too. I miss his causticity.
RIP Caustic Man? Can't help but develop a coping mechanism in the service with the endless BOHICA. I was once trained by a crusty old E-7 I called Father Time to his face. Guy's face was as aged as a WWII paratrooper by the age of 37. No mustard stains, though, so couldn't have been. Good thing he had to salute me.

Has the MoonSwatch jumped the shark yet? I'm guessing that as long as people keep buying them, Swatch will keep making them.

Pretty funny hearing people talk about "old money" in 2024. I think the kids have expanded "nepo baby" to encompass anyone who isn't self-made.

One of the nice things about living where I live is that all rich people can enjoy the benefits of their wealth, regardless of the age of their money. I guess it's a comparatively egalitarian utopia for the super-wealthy. My kids go to school with a few "new money" billionaires and fortunately their children don't have to feel shame that they are only one step removed from the nasty business of wealth generation.

If I was a new money billionaire, I would remind my kids every day that they're still poor.

A friend and I visited the local IWC boutique and I tried on the aqua dial version. Overall I liked it. Although, I wish the bracelet's center links were brushed rather than polished, and I wish it had retained the original quirky bezel with 5 circular notches that were used to screw the bezel on, rather than adding 5 hex head screws (although that's a minor criticism). The big issue is price. It's using the same movement as the IWC Mark XX which is significantly less expensive. It should have been priced perhaps only slightly higher than a Mark XX as it has a bracelet, or it should have been given a more unique movement if it was going to be that costly. A few other friends who have seen it, liked everything about it except the price.

I consider it hideously overpriced for what it is. In the UK we call this ‘taking the p1ss’
