Looks awesome. Did you have choices for the strap? You may have discussed this before when you were in the process of deciding what you wanted to request, but why did you choose a ruby cabochon rather than the usual (artificial) sapphire? Is it purely an aesthetic choice, or is there some historical or other reason?
I don't think he had a choice, I believe it is current policy. If the watch has a platinum case, the winding crown gets a ruby cabochon or a faceted ruby. Also just to clarify, the synthetic spinel or artificial sapphire is only for all steel or steel and gold watches. Watches with a rose gold, yellow gold, or white gold case get an actual sapphire on the crown either a cabochon or faceted depending on the watch/crown style.

Thanks. The strap was supposed to be a shiny burgundy, but it came delivered more of a straight-up brown. They’re getting me a dark gray alligator strap to replace it.

The ruby cabochon is mandatory on platinum watches. They would not let me change it to sapphire. However, I’ve seen a couple of other instances where they let people break the rule.

That said, I’m glad it is ruby. Combined with the black hands and red gold dial, makes for a more integrated and elegant look. As much as I love the combination, blued hands on a salmon dial (which would have been mandatory in my opinion with a sapphire cabochon) would have been much sportier and maybe less appropriate for the watch.

Interesting, thanks for the info. TIL.

Are you exchanging the burgundy/brown strap for the gray alligator, or are you going to keep both? I'd be interested to see how the gator looks with that dial color.

Really amazed at how well the dial came out. It was a gamble, but extremely happy I went with solid rose gold instead of brass galvanized with a salmon color. The latter is Cartier’s official “salmon” dial, but looks too orange/peach to me. This way gets you something a little bit pinker and which varies more under different lighting.

Easter egg: there are actually two items from Cartier in the first photo.

I think Cartier's about as cool as Invicta, but this specific model looks great on you. It fits you perfectly and has a lot of character, especially with that ruby dick tip looking thingy.

It isn’t. Please, feel free to save yourself the six or so figures, I’m sure no one with any interest in the watch will complain that there’s one less person in the market for one.
haha...sure...I'll save my money and spend it on a slightly less ridiculously priced Patek Phillipe watch.

Yet you like Rolex. Lol.
Dear friend, you must not know me. I exclusively like R.T. and currently preside over the F.A.R.T. From time to time, however, I merely hold a Rolex, or two, for my business partner, @Omega Male, while he conducts our "export/import" business in Colombia. For obvious reasons, he cannot wear anything on his wrist there.

What do you think of the Cartier Baillon Bleu? The Santos is still the most iconic Cartier, but I like the sleek contours of the Baillon Bleu.

Not a big fan of the Ballon Bleu. Love the Santos, which could be my next order—however, I do think the Tank is more iconic of Cartier.
