I am proud to show off, my very first foray into higher end watchmaking. I have a few Longines (including a much loved master moonphase), but have always wanted a JLC reverso.

for me there was only one Reverso to have and that was a Duo. I was tempted by the newest model, but I'm less keen on its black face than the last generation. So managed to find myself an immaculate example with a nice selection of straps.

This was a 40th Birthday present from myself, to myself! Couldn't be happier with it.

Nice! I’m debating if I need an SS model to go with my yellow gold. I’d dang near wear nothing else. I just happen to be wearing my duo face.

Depends on the AD. In large markets, discounts weren't given but I bought my GMT 116710LN in 2008 from a small market AD (upstate NY) and received a 10% discount. I didn't ask for it and was happily prepared to pay MSRP when he offered to discount. I'd been looking for the SS version since it's release at Basel the year prior.

I got a 10% discount from a Texas AD on my Hulk back in early 2017 via the phone without any real haggling. I was genuinely in shock. Didn't really expect them to have one, let alone get a discount. Wasn't 100% sure I really wanted to buy something at that moment, but kind of felt I had too.

This was of course about a year before the SS Rolex market started really going crazy. Daytonas and Batmans were still hard to get, but Subs still had okay availability. I ended up selling the Hulk about a year later for about a $2k profit. I really enjoyed that watch, but the only I regret I have about selling it was that I didn't wait another year to do so. Left another $3k on the table.

There are duo faces without big button on the side, right?
Mine has a small round button (not terribly noticable) that you have to use a paper clip or something to depress, rather than the rectangular button he has. But, mine's from 95.

My understanding is that there are 3 generations of the Duoface.

The original, which has the little depressed pusher that you have.

The second Generation has the button

3rd generation hides the button inside the case top.

I was close to pulling trigger on a new one, but i really have issue with the words "travel time" on the back face, as that really doesn't make a lot of sense and I much prefer the "day / night" writing on the 2nd generation. Otherwise theres not much in it.

Or another year and get another $10k.
