I'm soon taking delivery of my fist serious watch purchase, a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Triple Date Moonphase - I've wanted one forever and finally pulled the trigger. It's currently on the original Zenith black alligator strap.

This being my first expensive watch, I've never bought a nice strap either. I'm looking to get a medium-to-dark brown strap for it, probably alligator but not necessarily, and am looking for a few recommendations - either specific straps or strap retailers.

Appreciation in advance!

@razl Congrats on the Zenith. I will throw my hat in the ring for straps as well. We just launched a few alligator straps recently, here is the chocolate brown (and loden) strap:

I get what you mean. She uses analog watch and has mentioned in passing that she would like a good one. Idk if she will end up using it, but theoretically it should be a good gift.
I'm telling you, Citizen. or Seiko.
Perhaps Casio Edifice? But really.
Casio might be too busy for her.

New to me: I’d been wanting one of these for a long time but couldn’t find one in a good condition at a price I was comfortable with and from a seller I trusted. Fast forward to last week when a friend reached out to me to tell me one of his friends was looking to sell his and wanted to move it quickly. I got a great deal; it’s got the full kit (boxes, original receipt, etc); and after straining my eyes trying to work with the world's smallest screws, it’s now on my wrist!

One time a few years back I packed my running clothes with me when I went to work with the intention of going for a run afterwards. When I got dressed for the run I realized I had forgotten the G-Shock I normally wore at the time. I wore my Sinn 856 on a rubber strap to work and I hate not having a watch so I said, “Screw it!” and just kept it on while I was running… of course that was one of the rare times I tripped and fell on the trail while running. First thing I did when I popped up was check to make sure there was no damage to the watch! Thankfully, it was unharmed (as was I that time).

@George Red is that so the underside doesn’t end up developing an odor like a traditional leather strap? If so that is brilliant and I’d love to get one; could you share the model name (it’s not obvious on the website which one it is)?

Well, it prolongs the life of the strap, it’s more comfortable, and it doesn’t smell.

“More comfortable” is interesting. I find rubber straps to be far less comfortable than leather. What makes this one different I wonder.
