And the striking hours at that. But two minor gripes: I don't do gold (this is WG) even in theory, and the case is just a touch big for me. The standard Zeitwerk is a little smaller and sits better. But still, I felt I was in the presence of greatness.

Funny thing about gold and Lange that I just remembered: when I saw the touring "Grand Complication" a couple of years ago, the guy explained that they made it in red gold rather than platinum not for aesthetics, but because it had a more sonorous quality for the repeater.

    I love Lange.

My wife has the rose dial and I tend to steal it quite often. I really like the dial color. I think it's my favorite of the choices but probably not the color I would have picked out if purchasing it myself. Funny how that works sometimes.

Just goes to show, again, that seeing something on the wrist can be a revelation. I was just checking out the 35mm size as it's better proportioned, but really fell for it on the brown cordovan strap. My beloved was equally taken with the 33mm rose. And that's perfection.

I agree about the brown shell strap on an Orion. I do not even own a black strap as I love the way the brown shell interacts with the dial. Wearing mine today (slightly bigger than 35 mm):

The 38mm looks good with the date, but odd without it. And the black strap is great on the "Weiss". It's all about the combination.

Agreed about the black strap on the Weiss. I have not liked any pictures of that dial with a brown strap. I ultimately went with the version I did because I found the dial/hands combination more interesting and versatile strap wise.

If I wanted no date, I would have gone 35mm.

Price is $14,800. I think it's going to sell very well.

+1 ... could be an instant classic, especially given the pricing.

Also, @mildundklar, I've never been a big Santos guy ( and I do hope that's not a quartz :D ) but I like Cartier as a brand, and I agree that piece makes for a great little combo with the Sub.

You can certainly cover a lot of ground with a pair of watches like that.

Brief interruption to the excellent who-needs-a-calatrava-fest above (nice work!):

Favourite restaurant in London, special gift for my special woman. And I don't care how cheesy it is :)
