The fingerprint theory looks solid when I zoom the picture.

New proud owner. Ended up getting a new one from a grey seller instead of used. It's just lovely.

Regardless of what caused the light scratches, they'll polish out easily. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

NOMOS service is cheap as well. One of the best deals in all of horology.

I just had a question for those of you that have much more experience evaluating used watches. I didn't bid on this, but here's a discontinued Nomos Club Dunkel I was following that sold on eBay yesterday:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nomos-Glashutte-Club-Dunkel-36mm-Near-Mint-Condition-/252385502104

Aside from the obvious no box or papers, what's the deal with what appears to be lots of small scratches on the side in this pic?

Is that a sign of a poor polishing job? Or something else? Thanks!

I wondered the same. Actually I was interested in that particular watch on eBay but avoided it when I got *very* reliable information that it had a "questionable history" (serial no visible on another photo). A.k.a. stolen. Poor buyer...

Oh wow! Dang, I feel bad for the guy that paid $1,800 for that. With no box or papers, I was kinda interested if there was a chance I could get it for cheap, but the bidding quickly went up past what I would consider. I know the Dunkel has been discontinued, but you can get a new 36mm Club with a sapphire back for $1,850 direct from NOMOS, only $25 more than that guy paid when you factor in shipping. New 36mm Clubs with the steel back are $1,065 from the German Chrono24 guys right now too. $1,800 for a Club with no box or papers, odd scratches, and now questionable history seems pretty crazy. I guess he really wanted the Dunkel version.

If actually stolen, buyer can file dispute and return it, as it's not matching description...

I like it, but I expect it will end up like every YM reference - mostly unloved.

Would love to hear thoughts on this upcoming Rolex YM:
I've never cared for the YM. I think the dark blue dial version looks better than the gray dial version, but I've never found any of them appealing enough to consider purchasing one. To me there is little draw in a blingier, less useful version of a Sub. I'll stick with the original, the Submariner.

I don't claim to be anything resembling an expert, but that does nothing for me, and wouldn't be something I'd consider buying even if at a much lower price point...unless of course I could sell flip it for retail lol.

I've never liked it much either, but I am not unmoved by this new variation. I guess I just like grey dials, and anything blue. Just one thing though: if the second hand only were blue and they'd left the text alone, I would like it more. Just one blob of colour too far to be cool - I think of this an an Omega phenomenon. Not awful, I'd wear it, but as Rolexes go I think I'll call this one a near miss.
