About a month ago, I mentioned that I thought my wife was going to get me a watch for my 40th, but was concerned it might not be the right one. If more proof was needed that I married well above my lot in life (it wasnt), I now have this on my wrist:

For those keeping score at home, this is a replacement for the watch I bought when my daughter was born that was stolen. This one suitably engraved by my wife and delivered by my daughter yesterday morning. It was a really good father's day for reasons beyond getting the watch.

Looks great! Congrats on the watch and happy belated 40th & Father's Day. Its always nice when special occasions are commemorated with a watch. Especially since it something you will wear often and it will always remind of the occasion and the people who gave it to you.

Congrats again and best regards,

Said much better than I could have. Milestone pieces are worth so much more than their monetary value.

Wow, yeah... very cool Longines. I believe their version is the biggest of the so-called Dirty Dozen, although I'm far from an expert on that whole series. Looks great on your wrist.
The Longines is 37.5 mm, which is a pretty "modern" size, I think. Most of them were considerably smaller at 35-36mm, but they wear remarkably well on the wrist (I was lucky enough to get to try most of them on).

Such a thoughtful gift. I love my Speedies, and that is a great story to go along with it.

39mm non-screwed crown dress watch. Just perfect for snorkeling and kayaking.

It's hard to tell from this angle, but I think this might be the same case as this:

If so, its one of my favorite shapes in all of watchmaking. Just a really beautiful case and I've never seen a picture of it that does justice to how it looks on the wrist.

Great watch! I also bought a Speedmaster the day my son was born, great way of making a watch more than just a watch, so sorry to hear yours was stolen

That's the 44GS. Mine is the SBGV217 Heritage model which is based on the old VFA case.

Some nice GS pieces above!

Speaking of which, I've seen several Grand Seiko models in gold, but is there one with a matching gold bracelet? I think that would be really cool, of course in a two-watch collection with the solid gold G-Shock. :)
