Horse tranquilizer maybe? I forgot that he was a vet.

The point of that episode was to bring to head the differences between the two leaders. That conversation and that conflict could have happened at the farm (throw in a random zombie for action) as the kid recuperated or better yet was kept under by Herschel. Let's say Rick wins and they decide to let him go. They bring him to and as they load hm into the car he sees Maggie. "Hello, Maggie."

That puts the same spin on the ep but brings everyone in: we can't let him go vs. we can't take care of him. Why the hell didn't the kid mention Maggie before? Use every advantage he had to stay at the farm?

    That episode was filler.

I think the cops w/ no marks was to introduce the idea that there might be other means of infection and when Rick was thinking about leaving he saw the two of them there, in uniform, and was reminded of his and Shane's history/relationship/brotherhood of the cop.

I think the walker was party an indication that Shane is walking alone but also becoming more and more like a walker, willing to kill for no reason, loosing his humanity. In the scene with the fight between Rick and Shane right after Shane throws the wrench we catch a reflection of Shane in the broken glass and he looks like a walker. In fact I thought it was a walker for a sec. right before the actual walker broke through. Shane is totally losing his shit.

Re the standard Rick v. Shane argument, Tori (? Ricks wife) actually had it right. It takes a lot of people to survive and the secondary jobs are just as important as swinging your dick around killing things. You've still got to eat, bathe, collect fuel, maintain shelter and warmth, and so on. Having people to help is important in the best of times, in a world filled with millions of walking dead it would be crucial to have a group working together. Shane's way would totally destroy any group and leave him fighting alone. It might work for a while but then some walker would get him while he takes a shit, or cuts wood, or is under a car trying to get oil or a spare part.

Yes, more stupid writing. And why does no one have a fucking spear yet? Best Zombie slaying weapon this side of the tomahawk. No need to get in close at all and it's nicely silent. In fact, why not get Roman on them and have a spear to throw, stick it into them and slow them down, and then finish them with a sword or axe.
Or a battle mobile. Get a truck with a rack, weld on some thick chain link fence type siding onto the sides and top, some over all the windows and use a spear to stick any zombie through the fence.

Or a fucking silencer on a .22 pistol.
Or any body armor, even a leather jacket and a football helmet.
    Or a riot shield.
    Arrgggg.

The movie Stake Land actually did this genre fairly well. Low budget but much better writing.

^ good point... i'm surprised no one has welded any type of grate/siding on windows on their vehicles... would solve a lot of problems with zombies breaking through windows/etc.

The redneck had a crossbow. That was the best way to kill walkers. Silent, easy to shoot and pretty much as effective as a gun.

With all this talk of shane´s resemblance to the walkers, could it be possible to see him as one??

    Also

He´s supposed to die pretty soon in the comics, right? Maybe he´ll come back as a zombie.

Ha, this show isn't good enough to worry about spoilers. If it was GoT I'd flip my shit.

Well the source material was damned good. Although the first season had a lot of differences from it, the overall flow of the story was about the same.

I hope they go back to the pacing of the first season. All the dumb ass decisions would be less annoying if the story didn't stall so much.

i dont think they will.i think they are going to treat it as seasons.so for example the farm was an entire season, prison will be another entire season and the governor another season etc.so they have to fill it out and stretch things out and the pacing and flow suffers.less talking more zombie killing please...

I think you are right Valium. IMO the second half of the second season is shaping up to be pretty damn good though.

I mean come on people...it's a show about zombies and you're nitpicking shit like a Star Trek nerd.

I MEAN HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF!!!????
