The USS New York, the hull of which was crafted from steel recovered from the WTC at Ground Zero is in NY through Veterans Day. I waited on line and the military did a bang up job...a great experience to tour a newly active LPD or Landing Platform Dock...lots of hands-on activity, Marines in full gear letting people try on flack jackets, .50 calibre rifles, shoulder mounted rocket launchers etc. People could go inside active tanks, APC (armored personnel carriers), see the amphibious assault vehicles and most impressively the big Super Stallion helicopters and V-22 Osprey tilt-wind rotor aircraft. I am sure it cost $$$$, but it was still pretty cool. Here are some pics I took: 1. Getting on board
2. Plaque
3. Big ass Marine assault vehicle
4. Landing craft dock
5. Humvee on landing craft
6. Super Stallion
7. BONUS..I was inspecting the forward-mounted camera...and saw a tiny "MADE IN MEXICO" on the lens! (A man with a large machine gun in fatigues suggested I not take a pic of that)
8. V-22 Osprey
9. Apache
