Am I right in thinking the inspiration images usually show an altered item i.e. waist taken in? If he’s sized up that much it would be like a parachute if not for alteration? That picture is one I’ve used for fit inspiration and to try to dial in fit. To me, the model consistently wears his chores bigger than tts… sometimes even over a blazer. Part of this is evident by the shoulder seems and rolled cuffs compared to how I wear mine (tts 38).
For materials, I have the selvidge cord and the heavy cotton twill (in ecru, with the cord collar). The heavy twill is noticeably heavier (duh). So much so that I wouldn’t wear in warm weather. The cord is more lightweight… for more mild weather. I while the measurements seem similar, I have problems, esp in the arms, when wearing both a shirt and sweater under the cord version… where I seem to be able to layer more easily with the twill.
As far sizing, my guess is that the model is shorter than you and the length will end up shorter. In trying to replicate this fit I recently sized up to a 40 (that St. John’s chore I posted about). I found that too big, even with my thickest sweater… this being in the chest. Sleeves and length were manageable.
Given you are 6’2” and slim (I’m 6’ and slim), I would think a 40 might be big on you in the chest… unless you really want to wear it oversized and with layers. But it’s probably what you need in the sleeve, and closer to the fit in the pic.
