Ordered the shearling to US. I'm assuming shipments are DDP from Drake's to US?

Had to give my SSN to DHL. Does it matter if my shipping address doesn't match my tax address associated with my SSN?

Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

I’ve never had to pay duties when ordering directly from Drake’s. I think it’s stated as so on their website.

The only time I had DHL reach out to me was when I was returning an item back to the UK. It was a short call and everything went smoothly.

DHL is saying they need me to submit IRS proof of address and my social security number. I can't link my shipping address to SSN since I didn't ship this to my primary residence. Guess it'll get returned to sender. I'm done online shopping. What a pain **********.

That is SUPER sketch. I have never had to submit any of that info to DHL before, nor would I. No courier company needs your SSN.

I would contact Drakes directly before providing any info the DHL. I recently had an issue from an order with Drakes where DHL contacted me to collect duties and customs (which was an error since it was shipped DPP). I contacted Drakes and they told me not to pay anything and they sorted it all out with DHL directly. I would suggest you do the same.

Ops… unrelated to Drakes but I bought a pair of EG’s from Abbot (UK) with delivery to Lisbon, shipped by Fedex. I paid all duties at checkout and then a couple days later Fedex emailed me asking for the invoice and payment receipt (PayPal or credit card statement). I sent them this info, hope it doesn’t mess things up.

I agree with csm - absolutely just email Drake's. I've had this happen on a couple purchases to the US - interestingly both higher cost orders. Once it was my SSN as an "importer" but the shipment seemed to clear prior to DHL getting all the info, and with another it was some incomplete manufacturer info that held things up in customs clearance. It's weird, but it's happened enough that it's not a one-off and I think you'll be alright.

Everything should come DPP.

Less related, but pleased to note that for me the Coverall in correct size is the way to go, and the keeper's tweed bal is an incredible piece. Had been waiting on that since the lookbook arrived.

I reached out to Drake’s about this after I bought mine two years ago and here’s what they sent me:

“We do not recommend any treatments, apart from allowing areas that become wet to dry slowly and naturally before gently brushing them with a shoe brush. With stains we recommend a shoe brush again however this time you might need to be more rigorous.
We say this as it helps the garment develop character that is specific to the wearer without compromising the fabric of the jacket.

Water repellent suede treatments often give an unwanted cheap sheen to the jacket which is best avoided.”
This is super odd advice - the cheap sheen part. There is a ton of information on the internet about the pros of spraying suede to protect from weather.

I agree, I think it can be super helpful. They probably just don't want to be held liable if they recommend it and it doesn't turn out well for someone.

I like this autumn Piedmont collection very much! I could buy it all… I regret getting a nylon RMFB Christy Vest last year (non Drake’s collaboration) when I see those great casentino and cord version (specially the olive one). The new brushed work shirts are so cool as well.. at 300 though but still.

The work shirts are very cool, and of a more substantial cotton than previous years. I recently received the green check work shirt, and it is a pleasure to wear.

Hi folks, snap of the new duffel coat from the Piedmont shoot.

Wasn't remotely on my radar as Michael Hills fully buttoned/toggled styling didn't do it for me.

However, trying it on, I'm impressed. I like the fit, the lack of raglan sleeve, the deep navy colour and the wool is a wonderful weight/texture.

Still not sure if I'll purchase; I go between thinking it's a interesting piece of design worth splashing out for or that it's Paddington Bears "smart going out" coat.
